To Trim or Not to Trim... 2007/06/14 16:18
With summertime here there are a lot of people who will trim down the fur on their long haired dogs. It seems to keep them cooler but some vets say it is a danger to the natural protection the fur provides.

I keep getting mixed results on researching this question, so is there anybody that knows the facts or where to find out if trimming is good or bad?

Your topics all seem to bring up great questions Patrician!

I agree with you. I always heard the same that a dog's fur 'insolates" him from the heat as well as the cold.

That said I have a winter breed dog and I personally believe he is far more comfortable with trimmed hair then leaving it long.

I think too short isn't great & dogs do get sunburned!
