My cat meows for no reason 2007/05/12 02:45
Hi. I was wondering if someone could tell me why my cat meows sometimes when she doesn't want anything. She could have food and water, but she'll still meow. I thought it was for attention, but when I come around she runs. Anyone know why some cats do this?

I have known several cats that had the habit of talking to themselves when they were wandering around. They are articulate creatures even if they don't deign to speak human.:cheer:

If your cat is alone in the house a lot, then he has probably taken this up as a way to keep from being bored. If you are around several cats you will observe that they DO communicate verbally with each other.

When our current feline housemate, Hob, gets aggravated he will wander through the house with a constant litany of sharp meows and a stiff legged gait that looks like he is trying to stamp his feet as well. Just his way of letting us know he's p**sed.

Maybe she's talking to herself sometimes. I know at other times she's trying to get out attention though cause she'll mess with my office door if it's closed and I'm on the other side.
